How we choose our five.

Five is a promise of restraint. Rather than listing hundreds of options, we pick five places per category that suit different occasions, budgets and moods.

1. Build a shortlist

Candidates come from research, reader suggestions and AI-assisted discovery.

2. Gather the basics

For each place we collect the official website, a short description and, when available, a Google Maps link.

3. Keep it to five

Each list is numbered 1 to 5. We don't publish ratings or review counts copied from elsewhere.

4. Keep it current

Places change. If something has closed or moved, tell us and we update the list.
